Cesar Piña aka @flipping_njis a living legend. His life is story should be made into a motion picture film.

In 2005 he was sentenced to 18 months in a federal penitentiary. A day before he turned himself in he married his fiancee who was pregnant at the time. What would seem to be his lowest moment actually turned into a blessing.

When he was in jail he befriended a real estate tycoon who was serving time for a white-collar offense. Cesar taught him how to survive in jail and he in return taught Cesar real estate.

When Cesar was released in 2006 he pawned his wife’s engagement ring, sold his car and borrowed money from family to buy a house. Today he owns over 900 housing units and is in the process of building 3 commercial apartment complexes with over 150 combined units. The estimated value of his properties is over $65 million.

His journey is remarkable but the most impressive part of his business is that it’s a family operation. His wife is his business partner, and his brother, sister in law and cousin all work with him. In addition to the family business, all of his contractors and workers for his properties come from his hometown Paterson, NJ. He hires from the same streets that he comes from.

He told his story and explained his real estate strategy on episode 33 of the @earnyourleisure podcast.

EYL #33 will be out today at 5 pm est. #Fromstart2flip #earnyourleisure#eyluniversity
